Innovation consultancy for
the next phase of growth.
The Innovation Hub finds the opportunities worth pursuing, shapes them into concepts and propositions, and takes the strongest to market.
An idea is worth pursuing when it moves the business towards where it is going. The Innovation Hub starts there. It finds the opportunities, ranks them, and takes the strongest through concept, business case and pilot to launch. The rest are set aside, with the reasons written down.
The Innovation Hub is one of six Innovation services, engaged on its own or alongside Growth when a growth plan names innovation as a priority. Each stage is facilitated from our Norwich office, for businesses in Norfolk and right across the UK.
Every idea in the room, a few taken forward.
The innovation workshops start from the opportunities already ranked, not from a blank wall. Your team puts every idea on the board, and each one is judged on the same three questions: who would buy it, what it would earn, and what it would take to deliver.
The few that answer all three are refined into concepts and propositions. The rest are recorded with the reason they were set aside, so the same conversation does not have to happen twice.
“Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.”
What the Hub covers.
A project at any of the three stages, or retained as ongoing innovation leadership. The proposal sets out which, and what each part is for.
Innovation strategy
Where the business should innovate, in what order and what each step should add, set out as a roadmap your leadership team can measure us against.
Opportunity analysis
Your buyers, your market, your competitors and the needs nobody is meeting yet, studied and ranked by their potential.
Trends
The shifts in your sector worth acting on, and the ones that can safely wait, with the evidence for each.
Innovation workshops
Structured sessions with your team that turn the strongest opportunities into concepts, run to an agenda and written up afterwards.
Concepts and propositions
Each concept shaped into an offer: who it is for, what it does, what it costs and why a buyer would choose it.
Business cases
The costs, the expected return and the risks, set out so the decision to invest is made on numbers.
Pilots and launch
A measured pilot with real buyers, then a development plan and a route to market for what is launched, improved as it scales.
Retained innovation leadership
A senior lead from our team who keeps the roadmap current, reviews progress with your leadership team and brings forward the next opportunity.
Start at the stage that fits.
A scope first, then whichever of the three stages fits where you are. Each one ends in a decision about the next.
Tell us where you’re goingScope.
Before any work begins.
We agree where the business is going, what the work has to decide and which stage to start at: Identify with no idea yet, Ideate with an opportunity, or Implement with an idea ready to develop.
You receive a written scope and a stated fee.
Identify.
The first weeks.
We study your buyers, your market, your competitors and the needs nobody is meeting yet, then rank the opportunities with the most potential.
The ranked opportunities are presented to your leadership team.
Ideate.
Once the opportunities are ranked.
Workshops with your team turn the strongest opportunities into concepts and propositions, refined until a few are worth a business case.
You choose which concepts go forward.
Implement.
When a concept is chosen.
A business case, a pilot, a development plan and a route to market, then the launch itself, measured and improved as it scales.
The full launch waits until the pilot supports it.
Questions about the Innovation Hub.
What does innovation consultancy from the Hub include?
Innovation strategy and roadmaps, opportunity and trend analysis, workshops with your team, concept and proposition development, business cases and pilots, and the route to market for what is launched. It can be a project at one stage, or retained as ongoing innovation leadership.
We don’t have an idea yet. Is it too early?
No. That is what Identify is for. We study your buyers, your market and your competitors, and rank the opportunities worth pursuing before anyone commits to one.
Who from our side needs to be involved?
Usually the managing director and the people closest to clients and to delivery. The workshops need them for a few hours at a time. The research, the analysis and the writing up are ours.
What happens to the ideas that are not taken forward?
They are written down with the reason they were set aside. Some come back when the market or the business changes, and the record means the work does not start again from nothing.
How is the Hub different from Market Research?
Market Research answers a question with evidence, and can be engaged on its own. The Hub uses that evidence at Identify, then carries the strongest opportunity on to a concept, a business case, a pilot and a launch.
What does retained innovation leadership involve?
A senior lead from our team who keeps the innovation pipeline moving: reviewing progress with your leadership team, keeping the roadmap current and bringing forward the next opportunity. What it covers each month is agreed in writing.
Does it work alongside a growth plan?
Yes, though it does not need one. A growth plan may name innovation as a priority, and what the Hub finds often shapes the wider plan in return.
Who owns what is developed?
You do. The concepts, propositions, business cases and plans developed for you belong to the business, to use with us or without us.
How is it priced?
Every engagement has a defined scope and a stated fee, agreed in writing before any work begins. Tell us where you’re going and we’ll tell you what it would involve.
